About

Welcome to the Roadhouse

The “Roadhouse” is a metaphor for the broken world we live in. It’s symbolic of the loud, cluttered, sweaty, overcrowded places where sinners like me go looking for meaning and beauty in the world around us. And it seems like exactly the kind of place Jesus would have hung out, looking for the very people He said He came into the world to save.

Unfortunately, too many of us have been led to believe God expects us to clean ourselves up before we can meet Him on His turf. Thankfully, we have a God who seeks us wherever we are—even in the Roadhouse.

Especially in the Roadhouse.

Roadhouse Hymnals started as a collection of devotionals inspired by the blues and rock music I love and grew up with. I began noticing that many of the songs I was listening to were wrestling with the same things I was reading about in the Bible—fear, doubt, love, loss, identity, regret, hope, redemption, and the search for something more.

That didn’t feel like an accident.

Those songs captured many of the same thoughts and emotions I was experiencing, and they often mirrored the very things that sent me looking for comfort and answers in Scripture. Eventually, I felt a God-given nudge to use the subject matter of those songs as a doorway into the Bible—to take something familiar and use it to explore what God might have to say about the things all of us wrestle with.

My hope was, and still is, that people might begin to see God’s Word reflected in the world around them. I’ve learned we can find evidence of God almost anywhere. We just have to be looking.

I found Him in the music I listen to. Maybe you will too.

More Than the Hymnals

Somewhere along the way, Roadhouse Hymnals stopped feeling like simply a collection of devotionals and became something bigger—an umbrella for a platform I felt God inviting me to create using the gifts, experiences, and passions He has given me.

Here you can read the Hymnals—the devotionals that started all of this—and perhaps begin discovering your own connections between Scripture and the music, art, nature, conversations, and everyday experiences around you.

You can also connect with me here through my coaching practice. I’m a professionally certified and credentialed Career/Life Coach with more than 1,500 hours of paid professional coaching experience. I hold a credential through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and certification through the International Christian Coaching Institute (ICCI). My approach is simple: I meet people wherever they are on their faith journey and create space for God to be part of the coaching process.

And eventually, I hope the Roadhouse becomes a place for musicians and artists as well. Plans include a podcast where musicians from different styles, genres, backgrounds, and experiences can talk honestly about faith and art—how their faith influences what they create, how they perform, and how they navigate an industry and culture that don't always make those two things easy to reconcile.

The Invitation

I believe Roadhouse Hymnals is a calling God placed on my heart—an opportunity to use the gifts, talents, experiences, and desires He gave me to invite others to discover the power and beauty of a God who loves without limits.

Jesus extended that invitation more than 2,000 years ago to people carrying the same doubts, fears, failures, questions, hopes, and struggles we carry today. He met them where they were, and He did it with love, grace, and an invitation to something more.

I want to do my best to follow His example.

So if any of this sounds intriguing, look around. Read a Hymnal. Listen to some music. Explore coaching. Join a conversation. Or just hang out for a while.

You don't have to clean yourself up before you come in.

Welcome to the Roadhouse.

Peace.

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” - Jesus
